Demacia never sleeps [Jarvan/Lux]

crown-prince-of-demacia:

This really wasn’t the place for her. Even though the bar was tame compared to others he had seen, it was not the place for a proper, young woman like Lux. “Hm, well, you chose an odd time to try something new then.” He arched and eyebrow and smirked a bit. What were the odds that they both went to the same bar at the same time? His attention was pulled when she said his name. Just hearing her speak it pulled him back to when they were younger. “Hm?” And before he knew it, she was touching his face. It didn’t bother him at all. But everyone always did seem to worry about him ever since the incident with Urgot and Swain. The prince laughed lightly and took her hand. “I just…haven’t been sleeping well. That’s all.” He nodded and looked down at her. Before she got the chance to protest, he started to speak again. “Really. I’m fine.”

Truer words hadn’t been spoken today, and suddenly Lux was glad to be in the company of her prince. His smirk made her cheeks darken, and she was glad the light of the tavern was dark enough to hide the color change- she hoped at least. A slight nagging in the back of her head told the Demacian that he was lying- he always did that little laugh when he was being spoken to about something he didn’t want to be. Perhaps she would have brought it up, but words failed her with his strong, battle-worn hand clasping her slimmer one. Warm. Lux looked away, something she did when she got flustered. “How come? What’s keeping you up at night..?” This.. felt like the wrong place to have such a conversation but she kept that to herself, her fingers curling around the hand that held her own.

Trouble in the tavern [Rengar/Lux]

lionlanepolice:

lucent-singularity:

Almost as quickly as Lux had been the talk of the little bar, the doors previously closed burst open with such noise and force that Lux had no choice but to whip her head in that direction. Rengar, a name feared for many reasons. It had been sometime since she had seen the beast in person, but she had felt the sting of his blades many times on the fields of justice.

Many people watched in horror as Rengar threatened the barkeeper, and others turned away from the scene- attempting to remain ignorant Lux assumed.

“Enough!” Lux shouted, the nervousness from before being replaced by an adrenaline driven bravery. She mad stood at some point, extending her baton between Rengar and the barkeeper. “Rengar, please.” The Demacian pleaded, voice powerful and at the same time sincere. “The league forbids actions like these outside of the fields. You are bound by the laws of the institute  do not be so foolish as to extract revenge on a man doing his job- it’ll only cause you to be imprisoned. Come with me, let’s go for a walk.” Lux assumed Rengar had a hangover, right? “I’ll do my best to make your headache go away… just, please put your weapon down.”

Rengar looked between the bartender and the Demacian, and with a roar of frustration he sheathed his weapon. “You’re lucky,” he said pointing at the bartender. “This time the girl saved you, but next time we meet, you shall not be so fortunate!” As Rengar stormed out of the bar, he grabbed a bowl of peanuts from a bar table and said “these are mine now!”

There was an almost audible sigh of relief from the entire room as Rengar spared the barkeeper his life. Lux spared him a quick look, and the gratitude in his eyes was enough to cause her to smile as she moved to Rengar’s side. He didn’t object as Rengar snatched the bowl of peanuts- good choice too.

The outside air felt cool and welcome on Lux- that bar had been a lot hotter than she had originally thought and currently the sun was setting. It was going to get cold, and she had no jacket. No matter. “First of all, shouting and being loud isn’t going to make your head feel any better.” The Demacian scolded, reaching for a peanut while leading Rengar to a place she figured he’d be able to relax. It was a small little clearing just outside the boundaries of the institute. Said clearing was stated by a pretty, clear pond with a little waterfall that made the area all the more relaxing.

Suddenly the door’s burst open and Rengar came charging in “You!” he roared pointing at the bartender. “I will kill you for what you did!”

“Easy there sir,” said the bartender trying to calm the lion down. “Just stay calm and don’t…”

“Stay calm!” Rengar cried, drawing his knife as he moved menacingly toward the bartender. “How can I stay calm with this splitting headache!? You never told me that would happen! ‘Drink this’ you said, ‘it will make you feel better’ you said. And now my head feels like is going to split open!”

“Sir I understand your frustration but…”

“No more words puny human, you die now!”

Almost as quickly as Lux had been the talk of the little bar, the doors previously closed burst open with such noise and force that Lux had no choice but to whip her head in that direction. Demacia never sleeps [Jarvan/Lux]

crown-prince-of-demacia:

Jarvan hadn’t exactly been doing his his job as a prince recently. Sure he had been fighting in the name of Demacia and he was trying to keep some sort of peace between the other city-states and his. But outside of that, he had been slacking. In his training. His sleep. Even his eating habits had gotten pretty bad. (if he decided he had time to even eat) But here he sat at the bar yet again. He let out a deep sigh and swirled his drink around. He probably looked pathetic. But then he noticed something. No one was even looking at him. They were all taking turns glancing at a young girl. “Lux?” Jarvan got up and took the seat next to hers. “Aren’t you a little…young to be in here?”

Through the nameless and mysterious people calling and whispering her name, there was one she had heard that made her breath stop for a moment. Lux knew Jarvan’s low, deep, powerful voice anywhere and it almost demanded absolute attentiveness. A laugh, quick and nervous was her reply. “Yes, prince Jarvan.” She was only 19, but.. she had planned on getting away with it- somehow. Wouldn’t be too hard for a master of illusions. “I.. don’t know why I came here. I guess I wanted to experience something new.. but I kind of regret it..” Lux paused, gazing intently at Jarvan with her big eyes. He looked.. exhausted, although that didn’t seem to be a fitting enough word. “Jarvan…?” The Demacian muttered, raising a single index finger up to later run it under the man’s left eye, tracing the dark bag. The action spoke for itself, and Lux awaited a reply as to why the man looked so beat.

Lee sin approached the Mage with a smile. "Ah, lux" he said "good to finally meet you. I've heard a lot about you from Master Yi." He bowed deeply "how fairs the light of Demacia?"

The smile on her face, she noted dully, would likely not be seen by the man- but she figured he could hear it in her happy tone. “That old guy… Haven’t seen him in awhile, I hope he’s doing well.” The Demacian teased, returning the gesture as politely as possible, for it was quite the honor to be greeted by Lee Sin. “Every day I’m improving my control and limits.. I just.. hope it’ll be enough when it matters, you know..? I’ve got to be strong enough to keep the ope alive in the world.”

@theme of the week [open post]

This had been the first time Lux had ever been to a bar- and she couldn’t say she was enjoying it very much. After swinging the great wooden doors of the tavern within the institute open she could have practically worn the surprised looks. Murmurs rang in sync with the heavy doors shutting audibly behind her and Lux kept her gaze trained forward, not sparing a glance towards the many surprised faces. With a certain, specific,  awkwardness, the Demacian seated herself at the bar, awaiting the bartender to stop snickering under his breath and take the mage seriously.

'Oh? Well I'm afraid I MUST insist! I do believe my elder sister will be all too thrilled at the idea of you joining us in our humble abode to sip at some tea and swap stories of muscular men and heroic deeds!' The Noxian laughs, tail twitching even more visibly now; so much that the snake woman tucked it within her coils out of sight. 'So, how about next week? I really DO hope to see you there! I mean, imagine the gossip and negative rumors that would arise simply because you failed to attend?'

Lux found herself taking a careful step away from the Noxian temptress. “I’m flattered, Cassiopeia- really!” There was no sarcasm in Lux’s light voice. “But that’s.. just not what I am into.” It sounded more like Cass would get along with Fiora to be honest, she liked to gossip. “I’ll suppose it’s just something I’ll have to live with if that’s the case..”

'Well if it isn't Lady Crownguard,' The snake smiles sweetly as she coils her serpentine half under herself. Her green eyes trained on the Demacian Noble, unreadable as she crossed her arms over her chest. 'So, any plans to return to Noxus? Oh please tell me if there are, I would LOVE to treat you to some tea.' Her words were honeyed and her tone light and cheery, however something about the twitch at the end of her tail seemed to offset her whole demeanor.

“Hi there, Cassiopeia…” The Demacian greets in reply, a strange smile parting her plush lips at the sight of the serpent. The sting of her words do not go unnoticed, and Lux nods in reply. “I didn’t enjoy my trip to Noxus, with all due respect. It’s.. just not for me, you know…~ That being said, I do not plan on making any more trips there.” And if Lux did? They would be as her last one was- unknown to the world. Fixing Cass with a look that bordered between disinterested and smug, she continued- her voice equally polite as the Noxians. “I’ve never been one for tea either.. But thanks for the offer..”

“Honestly Draven. You don’t have a shred of decency…”

Lux’s cheeks more or less flooded red, and she looked away trying to maintain some kind of decency as Soraka made her appearance. “I.. -! I don’t think my brother would be very happy to hear that.”

“Oh absolutely not!” Garen stated very blunty. “Draven, the likes of your shouldnt get the time of day from the Light of Demacia.”

“Wow. Soraka. Rude.” Draven arched his eyebrow and smiled over at Lux. “Aww, come on. Don’t worry. I’m not as nasty as you think I am.” But he frowned a bit as Garen butted his way in. “Garen, Garen, Garen. Can’t you see she loves the Draven~?”

Lux found herself turning away from Draven, as if to maintain some sort of decency. “I’ll have you know Draven that I have incredible aim with my Final Spark. I’ll give you 5 seconds to run. “

Luxanna || Katarina

shunpoing:

When the assassin received no immediate response, she raised her fist up to the height of the door to knock again— and just before she made contact with the metal, the door cracked open, causing her to jerk back quickly. With the entrance fully opened, she found herself face to face with a man garbed in traditional summoner robes. He lowered himself into a sweeping bow at the sight of the champion, and his lips curled up into a soft smile. “Welcome,” he greeted her in a hushed whisper. “Come, take a seat.” He took a grand step aside, unobscuring the view of the rest of the room— and immediately Katarina’s eyes fell on a sight that made her heart skip a beat. Sitting straight across from her with bright eyes, shimmering blonde hair, and a decidedly Demacian set of armour was none other than Luxanna Crownguard.

The steps she took forward towards the seat were slow, and she hadn’t even noticed that her jaw fell slack. A plethora of comments ran through her head, though she let none of them out; instead moving down to sit next to Lux, hands balled tightly up into fists. Her mind was racing, hoping that this was some sort of joke, that she wouldn’t be stuck with this woman for so long— but the way that the Summoner proceeded so cautiously in detailing the mission to her as if she would fall into a blind fury at any second was sign enough that yes, this was entirely serious.

She absorbed the main parts of the speech:<:p> “…trip to Freljord to investigate…”, “…Noxian and Demacian to represent both sides and enforce neutrality…”, “…together for the next 7 nights…”</:p>

“What did you just say?” she snapped, running back over the last thing the man had said. She’d be with this Demacian little girl for an entire week? Katarina couldn’t help but blatantly stare at Lux in awe, brows twitching in a silent anger that bubbled in the pit of her stomach.

“You will be together for a week, so make sure you’re suitably packed.” he explained, still choosing his words very carefully. “And your mission begins tonight, so don’t waste any time.”

Lux’s breath caught in her throat, and the actual initial surprise that Katarina Du Couteau had just entered the room was enough to completely silence any sort of objection. This was a joke, right? It had to be. The Demacian’s eyes fell on the summoner’s and the serious, careful way in which they watched made Lux think otherwise. Lux had been staring at Katarina, much to her dismay. In shock, mind you- although knowing the Noxian, Lux wouldn’t have been surprised if she thought it was in wonder.

As the assassin seated herself next to Lux, she found herself training her eyes forward, doing her best to ignore the female next to her and the pounding in her ears. In reality, it was a really, really good idea to send both representatives of Noxus AND Demacia to enforce neutrality.

No surprise here, both Lux and Katarina were not too keen on being together for so long though. At Katarina’s outburst, Lux found herself holding her head high, while simultaneously turning her gaze from the red-head’s. Lux was upset, indeed, but she knew better then to talk back to one of the summoners- for they were incredibly powerful and did not take disrespect well, from what Lux had heard.

“A week..” Lux muttered to herself, lifting a hand to bat some stray strands that had fallen into her visage. “I suppose I’ll.. meet you at the gates of the Institute in a half hour then..” Lux found herself sighing, a weak smile finding way to her lips as she gazes to Katarina, standing to leave. “Partner.” With that, Lux makes her way out of the room to prepare for their mission.

Luxanna || Katarina

shunpoing:

Footsteps echoed loudly throughout the massive halls of the Institute of War; some belonging to various summoners, some to champions, and one particularly distinguished set to a certain redheaded Noxian assassin. She made her way down a nondescript hallway lined with doors of all sorts on either side of her, though none stood out to her quite yet- she knew where she was headed, towards a room with the ID number of 101910. And if she was right, that room would be…

“Here.” Katarina said aloud, though at that point no one was around to hear her. She’d made a sharp left turn, which led her into a long and thin corridor that held several temporary dormitories that the Institute provided for those who served the League. Not many people would venture down here at this hour: it was half-past midnight, and residents tended to prefer their own homes to the decidedly cozy quarters provided here. But champions would stay in their rooms when they were preparing for a mission or Official League Business as some liked to call it, and that was exactly why she now stood in front of a tall metal door belonging to Gods-knows-who.

The description of the mission was vague, and Katarina had never been down this section of the hall, so she wasn’t even sure who her partner was— but perhaps, she figured, the other half of the team would know more about this whole thing than she did. It was absurd to her that someone of her status was left so deeply in the dark, and she absolutely refused to believe that there was any proper reasoning for such disrespect. With a faint feeling of irritation buzzing through her head, she briskly knocked thrice on the door, and tapped her foot impatiently while waiting for a response.

It had been a long, long time since Lux had taken a mission- let alone one so daring. The last had put her in the heart of Noxus, the only thing keeping her alive was the powerful magic she had come to wield. Bending light to her will and made Lux completely invisible to the human eye, but the idea of being in Noxus again? Alone? Lux found herself swallowing a lump in her throat. Was that what this mission was going to be? Surely Noxus had implemented some sort of counter defense after Lux’s infiltration… right?

The halls were cold, dark and lonely- much like the night sky. She stepped with impatience. The sooner she found out her mission and supposed team mate meant the sooner she could relax. Lux had found the meeting room told to her by the mysterious letter by one of the high summoners with ease.

Freljord. The country was one Lux knew much about but had never been too. The mission was explained to the Demacian before Katarina had arrived. The two of them were to sneak into Freljord territory on the basis of strange findings that the league deemed, well.. questionable. “And what of my partner?” Lux found herself asking the council before her. “Why won’t you guys tell me who it is?” In reply, there was a knock on the door followed by one of the summoners standing to let her supposed team mate into the room. An empty chair filled the space near Lux, the same mission statement inscribed neatly on a perfect piece of parchment for Katarina to read.
